Just to show that my life isn’t all about pots I’ll post some photos taken this past weekend. We stayed with our good friends Roy and Maureen Carlson at their cottage at Maple Bay which is on the US/Point Roberts side of Boundary Bay. It’s only an hour’s drive from Port Moody but it is so rural and quiet it seems like a Gulf Island or the Sunshine Coast.
On Friday when we arrived it was 30 degreesC so we were delighted to swim at high tide in the shallow waters of Boundary Bay, on the east side of the peninsula. Fellow guests were Dale and Mary Croes from Olympia, Washington so Archaeology was the main topic of conversation for the weekend! We walked around middens, checked out garage sales and ate.
Sunday morning saw Roy leading us on a long walk south along the rocky beach. I was happy to take photos of herons, old cannery debris and the eroding sandy cliffs.
When we got home to Port Moody refreshed from a friendly weekend away it was then exciting to take finished birds out of my kiln. Next blog will show the contents.
And now I have another ‘Painting Raid’ tomorrow. Eric, Paul, Sally, Eli and for the first time, Renee Van Halm will be here for the day to paint some more plates.
