Dish it Up

After leaving Deer Lake Art Gallery I drove in to Granville Island for the opening of Dish it Up, the current show at the Gallery of BC Ceramics.

At 5 o’clock it was quiet and still sunny so I took photographs of the submissions from the general BC Potters’ Guild membership.

This show is another in the series of exhibits organized to tie in with the upcoming Ceramic Symposium at the Shadbolt Centre. The entries are all designed to serve and celebrate meals.

An hour later the gallery was filled with enthusiastic potters, their friends and keen collectors. I think it’s a good idea to offer the gallery’s special exhibition space for a show that all members can enter, at least once a year. Non-juried-in potters have a chance to show what they’re up to! And regulars have made a point of bringing in pieces that are different from their usual stock.

This ceramics-specific gallery is always an inspirational stop, for locals and tourists alike.
