Vancouver afternoon

Philippe Raphanel

March 1st and it was time to make a quick trip in to Vancouver. First I took the last seven plates and platters out of the kiln and Al took his usual excellent photos. I dropped him off at his exercise class with the plan that he’d check out our new local sky train to get home. It turned out to necessitate lots of walking..

But I parked at the Western Front which was open for folks to have a preview of the Gala Auction on Saturday. Eric is pleased to take the new plates and the other Raiders were expected to come by to collect theirs later yesterday. After taking a look at the Luxe Hall display I trundled on down to Granville Island where there are two ceramics shows to mention. Next blogs..

First I’ll post the photos of the latest Raiders’ work.

Philippe’s two large platters turned out to be rather spectacular, with their practiced layering on subtle under-colours. I am cross that my damn pharyngitis bug kept me from checking out his recent show at Equinox Gallery.

Marlene can be pleased with her two large platters and one coupe. Unlike the gentle spiral design on her WF auction donation one, she is back to drawing her signature cartoon figures who inhabit high-end restaurants.

Mina has another large spotted pink platter to serve her generous meals.

And Cindy has a large platter with more grey swirls.
