Tuesday was very exciting for all of us as it was the day that the glaze firing was finally cool enough to open. All in one day I unloaded, Al took the photos of the finished pieces and then I packed them up and we drove in to Vancouver.
I delivered just three little vases to the Gallery of BC Ceramics and popped in to Circle Craft to shop and then we drove over to the Western Front where Eric was anxiously waiting to see the work. He was quickly joined by WF staffers Katie and Jacqui and there were many oohs and has! Dave and Paul will come by to pick up their work soon.
My next blog will show the good photos of all their work. It is becoming a really enjoyable part of our lives to have a group of keen, focused artists here to try their hand at applying their skill to a different medium. The permanence of the finished product, whether it’s an oval lunch plate, a larger platter or a pre-ordered vase (as in Eric’s case this time) is quite a treat for people who are used to working on paper or canvas. Paul of course is hugely experienced and talented as a painter on clay. What he does here is, I think, a break from the other directions he has taken.
