Hollyhock photo

People who toured gardens in the Port Moody Art in the Garden event recently were invited to enter up to three photos in a competition. I had taken photos of the pottery and plants in my garden and then lots more of other gardens on the Sunday. You saw those in Picasa albums in my blogs. I wound up choosing to submit three photos of flowers in my garden. In spite of the preceding heat and then the rain that weekend these flowers put on a show for us!

Happily for me, my photo of a pink hollyhock against a slightly cloudy sky was chosen by juror Craig Hodge as the winner! Apparently the Art in the Garden organizers may now choose to use the image in their publicity for the next event, two years from now. Isn’t that fun! Here are the other two images I submitted.

During the Saturday we were visited by a photographer from the local ‘Tri-City NOW’ newspaper and on the following Wednesday’s edition the photo below appeared. I’m holding one of my jugbirds.
