Recently Cariboo Potters Guild member Leslie Lloyd sent me some photos of the finished work from my workshop in Williams Lake last May. It’s always fun to see how the pieces turned out, how bright the slips are and if the glaze behaved properly. Thanks so much Leslie for being an efficient ‘tech’ for your group and for taking photos.
I painted the jugbird with the red bill and Leslie painted the other one. These jugs and my vase, a plate and the demo tile will now join the collection of work by Cariboo Potters’ visiting artists.
The blue tile and bird plate were painted by Jean Swann.
Birch Trees and Daffodils are by Linda Sawyer.
I particularly enjoyed the trip to BC’s Interior, the Greyhound bus ride and spending a weekend with like-minded clay enthusiasts. If another group would enjoy learning about my process of making tiles, using earthenware slip and throwing and assembling jugbirds I’d be happy to make a plan.
I took the photo below the other day at our TriCity Potters executive meeting. Brigitta Schneiter had brought these three tiles in to show us how they look completed. She had taken her tiles home from the workshop I held in my studio in the summer. She completed her work on them at home and glazed them. Here are her three whimsical tiles.
