After my two days in St. Neots and then two all-too-brief nights in Berlin (again, catching up with six family members) I wound up at (nephew) Mike, Mel, Molly and Sam’s house in Sheen in SW London. I had scheduled a Gillian day and managed to tick off some super destinations.
First an above-ground train to Waterloo, and then the Northern Line tube got me to Chalk Farm. I had come across ‘Beside the Wave’ Gallery on Instagram and have admired the way they feature pots alongside wonderful Cornish paintings. The parent company is in Falmouth, Cornwall so seaside paintings and pots go together naturally. I MUST get back to Cornwall on one of my UK trips – St. Ives beckons. But BTW London sufficed for now. Gallery manager Kate Reade seemed pleased that I’d come from Vancouver to find her little gallery and allowed me to take photos.

Take a look at elegant simple pottery forms displayed along high shelves and not-so-quiet pieces juxtaposed with paintings and prints.
Kate was just setting up the gallery for the next show; Light and Heat: Sarah Wimperis. Sarah is the only English artist to have been chosen to work on the newly-released film ‘Loving Vincent’. After several months of producing umpteen paintings in Van Gogh’s style for the animated film, she spent time in France visiting where he worked. This show will be the paintings inspired by those travels. She has also made a tiny little model of Van Gogh’s bedroom and I was delighted to see it just as Kate unpacked it. Now I must get to see the film.

After I left the gallery I found myself to be a very short distance from Primrose Hill so, why not climb up the hill and admire the ever-changing London skyline, along with lunching Londoners?
