I justified firing my semi-filled kiln by sharing it with Dorothy Doherty for the bisque firing just before our little holiday, and having Barbara Tipton use one shelf in my recent glaze firing. Barb wanted to try out my clear glaze that goes to cone 05.
Nevertheless I only have ten new pieces to consider. Five are deep plates, or as June McD suggested, pie dishes. These all range from just under 10″ wide to just over 10″ and just less than 2″ high. I’ve photographed them and then added a side view in my lay-out app. If you’d like a one-off deep plate for yourself or a gift they are $50 each.
I plan to continue to make those teeny plates for a while.. they’re a nice relaxing and fun thing to make, with each one a different combination of slip colours. Here then are the current four 5 1/2″ size available.
Finally I have made another ‘POW’ bowl, with jagged forest colours inside and carved and terra sigillata-coated outside, with six jolly feet.
The three cherry tomato plants given to me by Robin and Jennifer at the beginning of the summer are producing an abundant crop so I fished out my custom-made dish. It is temmoku-glazed to enhance the fine tomato red and allows the tomatoes to finish ripening in my kitchen window. I made it in 1992.
Now I must go down to the studio and be productive again. There are colour combinations to try out, and paper and latex resist for more experiments to simplify plate decoration.
The plate you call ‘Forest’ has caught my eye…
Glad you spotted it Michael. I’m painting another one like that today. I seem to have wandered into a Forest theme recently.
