SECOND HAND sale

What could be more fun than a studio filled with my potter friends and collectors and oodles of pots to discuss, admire and perhaps take home? I was so pleased that folks chose to drop by on a sunny Saturday, March 1st. Thank goodness TriCity Potters Maria, Sharon, Lori and Jade offered to help me with my square for payment, wrapping, explanation and a little gardening that day.

Other potters came, along with local neighbours and some keen collectors from Vancouver, North Vancouver, Gibsons and Maple Ridge. As well as selecting pots by well-known BC potters John Perry kindly offered to take photos of the array of pots and some of the visitors. These casual photos are his, so thank you John.

I had invited folks to select pots from my 54-year collection. How many potters do you know who don’t purchase pots from their colleagues.. all the time? I can’t take them all with us to a new, smaller home so I suggested people pay me what they felt was right. It worked well, with my helpers guiding buyers with suggested thrifty prices. I did enjoy seeing my loved but used pots going to new homes.

After they left, three visitors posted their loot on Instagram! Thank you Evelyn, Chris and Georgina. Chris posted several photos of the display but also this one of my jugbird and mugs. Yes, we had coffee and cookies too.

At the end of the afternoon I felt very pleased to have arranged this sale, loved catching up with so many friends and was delighted to know where my pieces will live. There are still a good number of modest treasures to be found on that large table so I have decided to open my studio this Saturday March 8th one more time. I’ll just plan for 10 – noon, so if you missed it last week, do pop in this week for a final visit to my studio and help me avoid taking all of the pots to charity shops.

If I find time during all the house packing and tidying I hope to blog about pots seen at MOA recently and finished pots by Raiders and grandsons.

The last couple of weeks have been very busy. The Edmonton family flew out here for a few days for a last stay in our old house. Steve and Jen and the boys and Uncle Mike brought energy and much fun to the decluttering.
